The Grapevine 26th November, 2021
From the Principal Desk
Welcome back Ms Sara Broster, returning to work next Monday 29th of November. Sara has recovered well and is excited to be back leading the school into the new year.
Our Valedictory dinner took place this week as the last formal activity for the class of 2021. We wish these students well, are proud of their achievements, and know they will be successful in the future. We look forward to you coming back and sharing with us your stories. Thank you to Cathy Ferguson, Debbie Ford, Julie Kelly, and Steph Fang for the extensive preparation and fantastic evening.
This week is the final week for our year 11 students, who have made a start on their future studies through the head start program. These students have started their year 12 studies this week, becoming familiar with the coursework and getting prepared for holiday pre-work. I wish all our year 11 students well and a safe summer holiday.
Next week is the final week for our year 10 students, who will also start their 2022 classes with the same purpose of becoming familiar with the coursework. Year 10 students are expected to be at school for the week to take part in these activities.
For both these year levels, if there are any concerns about subject selections or booklists, please contact Ms Cathy Ferguson. There have been some changes to the process over the last few weeks and I apologise for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.
The college is now taking enrolments for 2022. Enrolment forms are available from the front office. The foundation transition program has commenced, with the 2022 students spending some time at the college getting to know the teachers, each other, and the rooms.
A big shout out and thank you to Leon and Dylan, the CLONTARF team, supporting the young fellas to reach their full potential. The graduation ceremony last week was great, and the students were proud to be recognised for their hard work this year. Camps have been organised for the boys, with the junior camp taking place last week and the senior boys camp taking place this week.
With three weeks to go there are a few events and activities coming up you that you will need to be aware of:
- State-wide transition day for 2022 foundation, year 7 and yar 9 classes – Tuesday 7th of December.
- Grade 6 graduation and disco – Thursday 9th of December.
- Activity week and final week of school – Monday 13th to Friday 17th of December.
- Achievement Night via Webex – Wednesday 15th of December.
Thank you, Robinvale College community, for the support and feedback you have provided me across the term. I’ve enjoyed every day, meeting new people, and building positive working relationships. The school is well resourced, with fantastic buildings and grounds, but more importantly with passionate and dedicated people wanting the very best for all students and the community.

Valedictory Dinner
We celebrated the Class of 2021 and all of their achievements. It wasn’t an easy year (or indeed, the past two years), but our Year 12s pushed through and shone. It was a beautiful night of speeches, photos, thanks, and cake cutting - made even more beautiful by the fact that we could share the celebrations with their families. To our Class of 2021: Congratulations and all the best for your bright, bright futures.
Twas the final year for the class of ‘21,
Looking back, oh, how we’ve had fun.
It was a year of ‘enjoy it, this is the last’,
How did this happen? It was all just so fast.
In the start there was our camp by Lake Benanee,
We were almost blown away, it was so windy.
Flash light tiggy was played, it was all the rage,
This chapter of Year 12 had a very happy page.
Onward and upwards, to Melbourne we next went!
Some of us went shopping and spent every cent,
We learnt about uni and tafe, and clubs and societies,
(Of which we learnt there are endless varieties),
And who could forget the footy, Saints vs Cats!
Some of us went home extremely happy chaps.
It was a year of ‘enjoy it, this is the last’,
How did this happen? It was all just so fast.
Amongst all of the fun, there’s been study too,
There have been SACS and outcomes of every hue,
Be it VCE or VCAL, we’ve all tried our best,
We’ve held our heads high as we’ve been put to the test.
Looking back, oh yes! There was Aths and Swimming Sports,
We’ve dressed up in costumes of all different sorts,
How about those rugby jumpers, green, black and white,
And don’t forget muck up day – we gave everyone a fright!
This year we’ve had smiles, but it’s also been tough,
Lockdowns a plenty, it’s was pretty rough,
But we’ve made it, we’re done, we’re finally done,
That’s right, class of 2021
It was a year of ‘enjoy it, this is the last’,
How did this happen? It was all just so fast.
Just like that, in the blink of an eye,
Spread your wings now, to the ‘Real World’ you fly

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.- Lest we forget
Foundation Transition
We have had special visitors from Kindergarten children transitioning into Foundation in 2022. They played in our Foundation classroom and our F-2 Playground to get to know their new environment and their new friends.
Victorian Statewide Reading Program
The Swan Hill Regional Library is participating in the brand new Public Libraries Victoria BIG Summer Read this year which will begin on 1 December and run through until 31 January 2022.
The BIG Summer Read program is open to children up to 18 years of age and is a great way for students to avoid what teachers commonly know as the ' summer slide' experienced by many students as they disengage from reading during the summer school holidays .
