Please join me in welcoming Feteleni (Ata) Lemani, who has joined us as Assistant Grounds and Maintenance Officer, alongside Adam Jealous.
Thank you to all the staff and community members who donated towards our Biggest Morning Tea. We successfully raised $300 with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council Australia.
It was fantastic to see our parents and carers come and celebrate with our F-4 Learning Community during Global Parents Day. The children were so proud to have their family members join them in their learning spaces and it was refreshing to be able to have our community join in our festivities.
A reminder that the F-4 Learning Community hold Community Assemblies every Friday morning from 9am, where students are recognised and rewarded for their growth and success in their learning and other achievements. It is also an opportunity for the different classes to showcase the work that they are doing. If you can’t make it in person, we will be live streaming the assemblies each week, to our College Facebook page.
Our College Council have approved the following important dates:
Monday 6th June – Pupil Free Day. Students not required at school. Staff will use this time for report writing.
Tuesday 14th June – Professional Practice Day. Students not required at school. Staff will use this time for professional development and other work priorities.
With the colder weather upon us and based on feedback from our previous Parent/Teacher Interview nights, we will be structuring our Parent/Teacher Interviews slightly differently this year. On Wednesday 22nd June (last week of school), students will be dismissed at 1pm from school. Students who require supervision till 3:05 will be catered for, if needed. Parents to notify the school by Monday 20th June if your child will require supervision.
Parent/Teacher Interviews will run from 1:30pm-5:30pm. Parents/carers will have the opportunity to collect student reports from the front office before walking through to their pre-booked interviews with their child/ren’s teachers. Parents/carers can also choose to pre-arrange webex bookings for these interviews if they cannot attend in person.
With it also being our NAIDOC week celebrations, it is a great opportunity for our families to enjoy a night out following Parent/Teacher interviews by then going along afterwards to the Clontarf vs Community Games, hosted by the Robinvale College Clontarf Academy and Koorie Girls Academy, with the game starting at 6pm at the John James Oval.
If your child has their L plates or is about to obtain them, the L2P Program comes to Robinvale College every fortnight and conducts driving lessons for all L platers. If you are interested, please call Julie Kelly at the College.
Our year 6-8 students had the best time attending the Campaspe Downs camp, participating in a range of activities including the giant swing, abseiling, climbing, canoeing and much more. A big thank you to Mrs Latu, Mr McDonald and Tusi for taking time away from their families, to provide our students with this opportunity.
Thank you to Dale Harvey from the Northern Mallee Local Learning and Employment Network (NMLLEN) who delivered Get VET to our year 9 and 10 students last week. Guest speaker was Robin Kuhne, Director of Operations for Workforce Partners Australia. Get VET presentations provide information about VET, VET study experiences and resources to investigate these pathway options, to assist students in identifying their chosen pathway and further studies.
Robinvale College would like to acknowledge that on the 26th May we recognised National Sorry Day. “This day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations.’
National Sorry Day acknowledges and raises awareness of the history and continued effects of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from their families, communities and culture. National Reconciliation Week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians,” – Reconciliation Australia.
Last week our Foundation VCAL students visited local businesses in Robinvale, as part of their workplace visits. Students met with the teams at Ostra Distillers and the Robinvale Leisure Centre. Students learnt about the industries and the job opportunities available at each business. Thank you to those businesses for hosting our students.

GLOBAL PARENTS DAY
In 2012, the U.N. General Assembly declared the first-ever Global Day of Parents. Since then, it has been held annually on June 1 to honor parental units around the world. Being a parent is one of the most universal experiences, but it’s definitely not a walk in the park. For one, it has its challenges long before kids are even born. With many complications resulting from pregnancy, just having a healthy child is something to be grateful for. And while many of us didn’t appreciate being nagged to clean our rooms, someone had to help us fight off the dust bunny invasion. Honestly, if we had never learned to handle tiny responsibilities like that, we’d have no hope of coping with the adult world. So let’s use this day to say thanks to our first teachers and nurturers. And if you happen to be a parent, give yourself a big pat on the back.
The F-4 Community celebrated ‘Global Parents Day’ during the week. Thank you to our parents, carers and special friends that joined them on the day.
Health and Wellbeing Day
On the 1st of June the Senior VCAL students ran a ‘Health and Wellbeing Day', for the school. There was a range of fun activities, such as football handballing drills, music, downball, face painting and more. A free BBQ was provided to students and teachers. The F-2 students also received a free gift on the day.
The VCAL students prepared chocolate crackles for the Health and Wellbeing Day.
SALT WORKSHOP
20 female students in Years 5 – 9, participated in the SALT (Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen) workshop. This workshop is federally funded. It is a support network for tradeswomen, apprentices and women who wish to enter the trades. Students made a caddy to take home and everyone had a great day at the workshop.
Koori Junior Girls
KGA junior girls enjoyed engaging in an Arts and Craft activity using Air-drying clay. The girls spent time bonding, and creating some great little pieces of artwork.
