Principal's Report
Thank you to our parents and students who were able to attend our Senior School Parent Information Night this week to learn more about the changes to VCAL and VCE beginning in 2023. Year 9 to 11 students will be starting their course counselling this week and it is important that parents/carers keep a look out for information from the school about this so you can support your child in making informed decisions about their subject selections and pathways for next year and beyond. If you would like more specific information about this, please contact Mr Graeme Smyth at the school on 5026 3704 or via email on Graeme.smyth@education.vic.gov.au
On Friday we farewelled 2 dedicated school staff who have retired. Anne Rhoden who began her career at Robinvale High School as a Secondary Assistant Classroom Teacher in 1981 and Janice Dickie who commenced her career with Robinvale High School back in 1990 as a Word Processing Operator. We are grateful to these ladies for the dedication they have shown throughout their careers and the experience they have shared. We wish them both all the best for the next stage of their life journeys.
Are you interested in doing some volunteer work at Robinvale College? Do you have some skills or experience that you would like to share with our school community? From helping out in the community garden, assisting with lunchtime activities, listening to students read or supporting the breakfast program, we are interested to hear from any parents, carers or community members who might have some time available to volunteer at our College. Volunteer Working With Children Clearances are required and you can apply for one of these for free through https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/individuals/applicants/how-to-apply-1
Our staff are able to assist you with the working with children check application process or access to a computer, if needed. Volunteers will be provided with induction, training and ongoing support.
Please call Narelle McClure in the front office if you are interested or would like to know more.
We had some beautiful weather on Tuesday for our whole school Athletics Day with our students representing our school with pride as they actively participated in the day. It was great to see so many parents and carers also in attendance, enjoying the day with us. A big thank you to all of the staff who worked hard to make this day a success.
A reminder that like cigarette smoking, it is unlawful for any visitors to be vaping on school grounds. The Tobacco Act 1987 bans smoking or vaping on school premises or within 4 metres of any pedestrian access point to school premises. The smoking and vaping ban applies to:
- anyone present on school premises during and outside of school hours including students, teachers, and school visitors
- all activities that take place on school premises.
Smoking and vaping are also not permitted during school events and excursions held off school premises.

100 days of School
Students in F-2 celebrated reaching 100 days of school, through a range of different activities celebrating the number 100. Students dressed up and had lots of fun. Year 1/2 students joined the Foundation students, as covid affected them celebrating this milestone in previous years. Everyone had a fantastic day and students particularly enjoyed taking photos of themselves looking 100.
Foundation-1 Class Pet
The F/1 class met their new class pets! A male and a female spiny leaf insect! Students loved having a hold of the insects, even though they were a little bit nervous at first. The insects were so ticklish on the skin. Students have been learning about living things and their needs, and will be applying this knowledge to help take care of the class pets for the rest of the year. We can’t wait to watch them grow and change. Now they just need some names!
Show Some Respect
Our students in Years 5-12, took part in an educational presentation on ‘Showing Respect’. The presentation explored many themes from developing respectful relationships to setting boundaries.
Well done to those students who got up and participated in the event.
Pinocchio Performance
Students from F-8 were excited to watch a magnificent performance of ‘Pinocchio’ by Make a Scene. Students were captivated by the amazing show and had some fantastic questions at the end for the performers. Can you spot some of our students and staff participating in the performance?
FUTSAL
The F-2 student had a lot of fun last week with an hour Futsal (indoor soccer) session. Football Victoria couches, Luke and Chelsea, helped students learn new skills and how to play some fun soccer related games. The sessions ran throughout the day for students in F-6.
Clontarf News
The Yr 7 & 8 Clontarf Academy members had a visitor in from Ambulance Victoria to educate them on basic CPR and what to do if anyone could be in danger of needing it. The boys learned about the Call, Push and Shock process and that giving CPR raises the chance of saving someone’s life, compared to not doing it at all. This highly valuable information was passed on by our local paramedic, Bobbie Hammet.
Year 4 Project ~ Great Barrier Reef
Year 4 are working on a project about the Great Barrier Reef in our English Class and we would like to fundraise money during the month of August to help SAVE the reef before it is completely gone.
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most spectacular icons of the natural world with rich and complex natural ecosystems. It’s home to thousands of species of marine life including fish, dolphins and six of the world’s seven species of marine turtle.
The accumulated impacts of climate change, poor water quality and crown of thorns starfish outbreaks are having a dramatic and dire effect on the state of our Reef.
We need to intervene at scale and at pace before it becomes too late to act with hope of saving them.
The facts are clear – coral reefs and their communities are on the front line of climate change and we know this is the critical decade in which to act with urgency.
The reef could be gone before we finish school and that is a scary thought!
Please help us in our mission to SAVE the reef.
Every $20 raised, means a new heat resistant coral can be planted on the reef to help save it's future.
Can you please help us with our fundraising?
At school we will be holding 2 fundraisers.
Tuesday 9th August - Out of Uniform Gold Coin donation day! Wear Green to SAVE our Reef!
Wednesday 17th August - Bake Sale - All items $1, sold in the Piazza.
My Dreaming, My Future
F-4 celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. The theme this year is 'My Dreaming, My Future'. The students drew their dreams and aspirations on clouds and have displayed them in our building.
