Principal's Message
Term 4 at Robinvale College has commenced with a flurry of activity.
We had the dental visit in week one. Many children who returned their consent forms were able to take advantage of this great opportunity to have a free dental check up and treatment if required. Tooth decay is one of the most prevalent diseases in Victoria with almost half all children affected. Dental conditions are the highest single cause of preventable hospitalisations for kids under 10. Given the importance of good dental care, it is fantastic that the College can provide access to this resource for our students.
In week two The Football Victoria (FV) - Positive Start Schools Gala Day Tour 2022 visited the College and provided an AFL skills clinic to all students from Foundation to Year 10. This is an initiative that aims to re-engage Victorian school students of all regions, backgrounds and abilities across Victoria following the Covid pandemic. The students reported that they thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity, as you can see by the photos include in this newsletter. The AFL clinic providers also provided very positive feedback regarding the behaviour and attitudes of our students.
We held a whole school assembly where many students received awards for outstanding attendance and demonstrating the School Values of Respect, Resilience, Responsible and Learners. The Students learn about these values through the Colleges Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum. Details about the winners can be fond in this newsletter. Assemblies are now open to parents and carers and we encourage you to attend. Please monitor the College’s Facebook page for details of our next whole school assembly.
Some of our Secondary students and staff had the opportunity to participate in a White Card course provided on sight by a Registered Training Organisation. The Construction Induction Card (White Card) is a mandatory requirement for all workers on building and civil construction sites. In the White Card course, students learnt the basic principles of occupational health and safety requirements. This demonstrates the College’s ongoing efforts to ensure we are providing highly relevant and engaging learning opportunities to our students.
Our VCAL team held Multicultural Day activities and hosted a barbeque for the whole school it was fantastic to see many students in cultural dress and enjoying the activities.
Robinvale College opened its doors to the community during our Open Afternoon. All members of the community were invited to come and see the fantastic facilities and learning opportunities the College has to offer. The hard work of staff and students was exhibited through displays and demonstrations. Even though the weather was challenging, several families were taken on tours through the College by student volunteers. Those who were unable to attend still had the opportunity to view all the College has to offer by watching the live feed on the Robinvale College Facebook page.
Our Year 12 VCE students will have their last day of classes on Wednesday, 19th October. I would like to congratulate them for the persistence and resilience that has brought them to where they are now. I’m sure you will all join me in wishing them the best of luck with their upcoming exams.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the College.

What is thunderstorm asthma?
Thunderstorm asthma occurs when asthma symptoms are caused by ryegrass pollen allergy during springtime thunderstorms.
Thunderstorm asthma can happen suddenly to people in spring or summer when there is a lot of grass pollen in the air and the weather is hot, dry, windy, and stormy.
Spring thunderstorm weather can cause pollen grains to burst into tiny pieces, which the wind then blows around us. When people with pollen allergy breathe in these tiny pieces of pollen, they can go deep inside the lungs and trigger an asthma attack. Thunderstorm asthma - National Asthma Council Australia
