From the Principal's desk
Welcome to the new 2023 school year.
I am thrilled to the principal for Robinvale College this term. I have had a warm welcome from staff and am enjoying getting to know the students and meeting parents. I have moved into Robinvale and am meeting many of the locals. This is a wonderful town, I look forward to joining in a bit more over time.
New staff and Teacher Vacancies
We are very lucky to have quite a few new staff begin at Robinvale College this year. Congratulations to Rebel Burkinshaw, Nonga Unufe and Stacey Ingram who have joined our staff as Integration aides. We extend a warm welcome to Kate Zimmer who will be our Leading Teacher SWPBS, she will be teaching 9 English and 12 Vocational Pathways Literacy. Speaking of locals, Micaela Davoli has begun her teaching career teaching 7 Science and 10 English at Robinvale. We welcome Jo San Biggins who is taking 10A Science, and 7-10 Health. Jawwad Ali comes to us from Melbourne and is teaching 8A & B, 9 Maths and 5/6 Integrated. And last but not least we welcome back Jag Kadian who is teaching 7,9,10 Physical Education. Travis Bussell has joined our staff as an Education Support staff member and Bev Thomas is our school nurse for the remainder of the term. This year we are grateful for the support of two new Clontarf staff Ryan Sedgmen and James Stewart.
Swimming Sports.
There will be a couple of opportunities for us to meet over the next few weeks. On Tuesday February 21st at the swimming carnival, I’d love to see us come together and put names to faces. A free BBQ will be available on the day. A Meet and Greet BBQ will be held at school in the Piazza there will be more information to come.
The theme for 2023 is New Beginnings.
With this as our mission the College is looking for staff who want to join our wonderful caring staff to help provide the best possible education for our students. Please pass the word and encourage teachers who you would want to teach your children to contact me at school. There are a number of teaching positions that still need to be filled. We are looking for secondary English teachers, a secondary Maths, Humanities, Science, Health & PE and a LOTE teacher. We are also looking for a Wellbeing Coordinator.
School Vision and Values for comment
This year the College will create its 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. The first step is a review of the school’s vision and values. I’ve included the revised version for you to consider. The Vision is what the College Community will commit to achieving over the next four years. Our Values will drive our actions and what we want to model and instil in our students. I would like to know your opinion.
Vision
Robinvale College aims to be the school of choice for our community where there is a safe environment that fosters mutual respect, co-operation, high expectations and most of all a love of learning. In collaboration with our families and community partnerships, our students will transition into society as well-rounded individuals, with the skills, knowledge and confidence to pursue their pathways of choice.
Values
We foster the development of respectful, responsible and resilient learners. These values form the basis of our decision making while shaping our interactions between staff, students, parents and the community.
Respectful: Tolerance and appreciation of ourselves, others and our environment.
Responsible: Taking pride in our college and community.
Resilience: Take risks and overcome challenges.
Learners: Curious and enthusiastic investigators.
You can provide your feedback by emailing me or by commenting on the feedback sheet in the front office.
I will leave it here for now. There are exciting changes underway, I look forward to sharing them with you.
Stay safe

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities. It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking the link between a student’s background and their outcomes.
CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)
School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline, and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum. CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
The annual CSEF amount per student is:
- $125 for primary school students
- $225 for secondary school students
HOW TO APPLY CSEF
New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from the website below.
If you applied for CSEF at Robinvale College last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:
- new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools this year.
- changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.
Check with the school office if you are unsure.
