Principal Report
Term 4 has come around so quickly! Collaboration between the students, parents/carers and staff is paying off. Our students are in uniform and wearing it with pride, more students coming to school for full days, classrooms are engaging and orderly. I’m grateful to be a part of a school community that is so supportive of its young people.
Robinvale Stars
It’s always exciting when we hear of Robinvale College students exceeding in their personal endeavours. This week we celebrate the achievement of three of our students. Congratulations to Wade Best who has qualified to play for Clontarf’s National State of Origin team. Congratulations also to Salote Fangatua and Bethany McGuiness who were both nominated for VET awards we wish them luck for the next part of the process.
Attendance
Even though we have a long way to go we’ve had signs of improvement with student attendance. This has been measured through the attendance records we keep. Each term students with high attendance have been acknowledged with attendance certificates based on how frequently students come to school. Gold – 99-100%, Silver – 90 – 98% attendance, Bronze – 85 – 89% attendance. We had a dip in term 2 but have improved with the total number of students receiving 76 certificates of the 76, 5 students received gold certificates, 46 received silver certificates and 25 received bronze certificates. This is an improvement on term 2 where a total of 56 students received a certificate. One student received gold, 22 received silver and 33 students received a bronze certificate. We thank you for your support. Every day counts.
Student Led Conferences
Thank you to our primary parents who attended the Primary Student Led conferences late last term. I have heard only positive feedback about the event. This week the Year 7-10 students will present their Achievement Portfolios to a teacher and another adult of their choice. This will prepare students for next year when we hope to invite parents to the conferences. I am excited to be sitting on SLC panels tomorrow and Friday. The students have put a lot of effort into collating work samples, their work ethic rubric, reports and certificates. They have also practiced their speaking and presentation skills. The process also includes setting goals for the next 6 months. The intention io that over time the students will become more confident about sharing their learning journey.
PAT Testing
This week our year 7-10 students have completed the second round of Progressive Achievement Testing (PAT Reading and Maths). We haven’t collated the results yet, hopefully their results will indicate the same levels of success as the primary students. Many of our primary students have shown up to a year’s growth in 6 months in Maths and Reading. This is awesome news and an indicator that we are on track with our efforts to maintain safe orderly environments which allow our students to focus and demonstrate the skills they do have.
STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
The 9-10 students presented their Achievement Portfolios to staff members and parents this week. They have put a lot of effort into collating work samples, They have set their goals for the next 6 months. Thank you to the students parents for attending the conferences.
