PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Hello everyone and welcome to Term 4!
This term is always a busy one for schools. Not only do we have a lot in our calendars moving forward, but Term 4 provides an opportunity for us to reflect on what we have achieved this year.
What struck me about coming back to this term was the idea that people from Robinvale really can achieve anything. Just a few of the events that sparked this awe of Robinvale staff and students include the following:
- We had students and staff representing us in netball in Bendigo and Geelong over the holidays (all teams making their grand final!);
- Our Debutantes learning not only 4 dances in 7 short weeks, but gaining skills in posture, presentation and a sense of self-pride;
- Steph Baker in Year 11 competing in golf against an international field;
- Students representing us in regional athletics with Lisa in Year 3 going to states;
- Uncle Daryl is going to perform at the Sydney Opera House;
- And amongst this all, our Year 11s and 12s are preparing for exams!
On this last point, our school values are that we are respectful, responsible, resilient learners. I urge parents, guardians and carers to open up a conversation with their children about the fourth value. Why is it important to prioritise our learning? Why do we come to school? What does it mean to be a good learner?
Finally, we look forward to seeing community members in upcoming events such as the Robinvale 100 Year Celebrations, Grandparents and Special Friends Day (both on the 25th of this month) and the $20 Boss Market Evening (27th of November).
Sadly we bid farewell to Travis Bussell this week. Travis has been a great support to the students and staff here at Robinvale College and we wish him all the best in his new adventure as the Robinvale Recreation & Aquatic Centre Manager.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL VICTORIA’S UNIT 2 AGRICULTURE AND HORTICULTURE CAMP
Last term year 11 student, Jacob Pulvermueller attended the Virtual School Victoria’s Unit 2 Agriculture and Horticulture two-day Animal Handling camp, gaining hands-on experience in essential sheep husbandry practices. Over the course of the camp, Jacob developed skills in drafting, drenching, and condition scoring. also exploring the broader agricultural processes, such as testing milk for fat and protein, classing wool, and even making cheese. As part of his experience, he visited a robotic dairy and observed a precision spot sprayer, an innovation that cuts herbicide use by 80%.
