The Newsletter 13th December 2024

PRINCIPAL REPORT

Dear families,
Welcome to our final newsletter 2024. What a year it has been with so many changes and celebrations.
Many thanks - what a wonderful place.
It is with gratitude that I extend my thanks to all of you—our incredible students, their wonderful families, the broader community and of course our wonderful staff who have welcomed me so openly. Since I arrived at the start of Term 2, your support has been nothing short of extraordinary. I have felt incredibly fortunate and privileged to work as Principal of Robinvale College and look forward very much to being back here again next year.
I love the diversity and unique spirit of our school, and I am committed to its continued growth and success. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and am excited to be a part of this journey. Let’s make a great school greater!
A huge thanks to all the staff at Robinvale. Without your continued support and goodwill, many of the opportunities that our students have would simply not be possible.
Achievement Night
Hopefully, all our families will be able to make it to our Achievement Night on Monday 16th at the Community Centre. The night will be a great opportunity to celebrate all our students hard work and achievement s throughout the year.
Year 6 Graduation
An important occasion for our graduating Year 6 class was held at the Euston Club last Wednesday night. This was a wonderful evening where we celebrated the accomplishments of our 21 graduates. Wish them every success moving into their secondary years.
End-of-Year Reports
On Monday at our school Achievement Night, you will also receive your child's end-of-year report. The report reflects your child's progress, achievements, and areas for growth. We hope you take the time to review and celebrate their accomplishments. Any reports not collected on the night will be mailed home.
Last Day of School December 20th
Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm on the last day of term.
First day of school 2025
Students will commence the 2025 School year on Wednesday 29th January. The Office will be open Friday 24th January for uniform sales.
Camps 2025
The admin team have been working hard to get our camps program up and running again. All year levels will have a camp experience next year. Please watch for further information and costs. Remember the School Saving Bonus ($400) can be used toward the costs. Likewise, if you receive CSEF this will be used as a camp payment.
Final words...
Finally, I want to express my deepest appreciation for your ongoing support of our school. Together, we can create an amazing learning environment for our students and your children. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season. May the next year be filled with new opportunities, growth, and success for all the members of Robinvale College.
SCIENCE IN SCHOOL

Year 3/4
Students learned about forces such as magnetism, gravity, friction and air resistance. They planned and designed their own push/pull toy in the form of a plastic bottle car. They explained how their car moved, and which forces helped, such as air resistance.

Year 5/6
This term, students explored natural disasters, identifying what they are, how they happen, and which disasters are most common in Australia. After initial investigations, students created posters to help communicate their scientific findings, explaining how to prepare for and prevent a specific natural disaster.

Year 7
Students investigated forces, exploring balanced and unbalanced forces, measuring the amount of force required to change an object’s motion and considering the impact of earth’s gravity as a force.

Year 8
Students constructed mini trebuchets in their exploration into how energy is stored and released. Students also discovered how kinetic and potential energy can be used to construct rockets and missiles and how energy is converted from potential to Kinetic energy.

Year 9
Students engaged in series & parallel circuit arrangement in their investigations into non-contact forces such as electromagnetism and how this is applicable to current and future transport option.

Year 10
Students used kinematics to describe the motion of objects and explain how motion involves the interaction of forces and the exchange of energy inline with the laws of physics.
In week 7, the year 9 and 10 students successfully completed their semester 2 science examination, focusing on content covered across term 3 and 4. With each examination period, students continue to demonstrate growth in their resilience and academic ability. Please join us in celebrating their achievements.

YEAR SIX GRADUATION
Our Year Six students celebrated their graduation last Thursday evening at the Euston Resort. The evening was attended by the students and their families Congratulations to Aiden Le, Ava Best, Brocky Tran, Charlie Appo-Jackson, Clint Smith, Harry Pettit, Joan Taualupe, Joziah Dunrobin-Rowe, Korban Dixon, Latai Masila-Liutolo, Lehopoame Fotofili, Lillian Paola, Lily Smith, Lyla Ikafanga, Marley-Jo Lingwoodock-Togo, Molly Bivolcheff, Pauline Taualupe, Samiuela Backus, Siosaia Felise and Stokah Singh

5/6 MILDURA SUNITAFE FARM EXCURSION
The 5/6 Students had the opportunity to explore the world of natural science. They engaged with modern agricultural technology as they learnt about biodiversity with Enviro Edu and connected with nature. The activities were interactive, including drones, plant care and careers in natural sciences.

UPSKILLING COURSE
Students from Year 11 and 12 were given the opportunity to gain their certificates for Food Handling, Responsible serving of alcohol, First Aid and Barista. Gaining these certificates will help them leaving school or to have now and obtain part time work.
