From the Principal's desk

This has been the first full week of students back on site. Students have settled quickly and it’s great to see the school filled with smiling faces, albeit under a mask.

With onsite learning returning to normal we have started to lift the expectations around student behaviour. Students are expected to “follow simple instruction”. This is the language we will be using and reminding students of this when expectations aren’t met.

This coming Monday, the 1st of November, is a Pupil free day. Staff will be using the day to identify how best to support students to re-engage with their learning onsite. This being our primary goal for the next few weeks. Students won’t be at school on Monday.

Year 12 VCE students have finished their classes and are in the middle of completing their exams. This can be a stressful time and these students are encouraged to take breaks, drink plenty of water, get a good night’s rest and trust in the work you have done so far.

Year 11 students have a few weeks to go with the exams scheduled to begin in week 6, two weeks from now. Students need to be attending classes in the lead up to this.

Vaccination rates across the state continue to increase. To support this Healthcare Australia will setup a COVID Vaccination clinic at the College to support access to vaccination. The planed date for the clinic will be Saturday the 20th of November. An expression of interest will be sent out soon through COMPASS.

COVID restrictions are beginning to lift with expected changes to be made from Monday the 1st of November. This will enable the school to do more COVID normal activities including excursions and special activities including graduations, valedictory celebrations, and transition activities.

Year 12 Last Day

Last Wednesday we celebrated the last day of formal classes for our Year 12 students. The last two years have been an absolute roller coaster, and our Year 12s have conducted themselves with unfailing resilience. Good luck to our VCE students for their upcoming exams, and to our VCAL students who will be handing in their portfolios soon. As a college and community, we are so, so proud of you.

Year 12 Exams

Good luck to Year 12s and Year 11s doing a final year subject. The Year 12s sat their first exam on Wednesday and came out smiling. Well done, we are all behind you. You can do this!

What we have here is 13 years of schooling reaching the final phase of their learning. Harrison Katis and Saverio Chirchiglia hone their content knowledge as they practice for their final examination in VCE Business Management. Good luck students.

Dumplings

VCAL Foundation had a very enjoyable day learning how to make dumplings. Students learnt a broad range of reading, cooking, communication and teamwork skills. Word out on the street is that they’re the best in town.

Foundation-4 Area

In InitiaLit Foundation (B), It was great to have Zacc and Junior, from Year 9, to help with sandcastle building and photo taking last week. We had read the story “Grandpa and Thomas” by Pamela Allen. Our follow-up activity was to make sandcastles in the Infant playground. Students worked in pairs to build and design unique sandcastles, using feathers, straws, pipe cleaners, leaves and other bits and pieces.
